Thanks to the breed of compact digital cameras, anyone and everyone can take a awesome photos. This is the primary reason behind the wildly increasing popularity of compact cameras - convenience. I'm a professional sports photographer by trade and I shoot most of my action photography with a Canon professional grade DSLR.

Starting out my first SLR was a Pentax K1000, the thing was an absolute tank! I shot with that for years till I got a Canon AE1 for Christmas one year. I loved that camera and it lasted for many years. Then I switched to Nikon and started shooting professionally and invested in all the accessories.

Last spring while on vacation, we went on a whitewater river rafting trip in Colorado, it was one of those times when I left the DSLR back at the hotel and opted to document the adventure from the perspective of my compact point and shoot tough camera. We opted for a full day trip on the Arkansas River and it was a fun time indeed.
